Don’t Listen to Your Reasoning, Rent the Darn Tent!

By: Lindsay Graham -  Despite a stormy beginning, Michael and Lindsay Grahams marriage is running smoothly. That’s how the lifestyles editor at my hometown newspaper wanted to begin my marriage announcement. Unfortunately, she was being quite literal. It rained during my outdoor wedding. There I was standing in my wedding gown, looking like a princess in a white A-line dress complete with a satin corset bodice and a full skirt encrusted with shining pearls and sequins over a lace motif. Two miniature versions of me carried my four-foot chapel train, which also sported appliqué decorations. And it was raining. This was supposed to be the most wonderful day of my life, but it was raining. The actual downpour didn’t begin until the moment my husband and I said our I Dos. Some comedians in the audience called it a sign. I was tempted to give them a sign that was not very ladylike. Cruel jokes were not the worst part of the rain, however. It was that I had declined to rent …

He grew up in Philadelphia, PA. Margarita was born in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. She grew up in a town on the Black Sea called Novorossyisk, Russia. She decided to stop by and see if they have Russian books. The secretary in the department asked Maggie if she was interested in tutoring a two-year old little girl in Russian. The Perfect Flower Girl

By: Heather Schirtzinger -  Deciding on a flower girl was one of the hardest things for my fiancé and me. One evening we sat down and thought about all of the children in our families. It took us about an hour to finally decide and then we made the call. Keep in mind this little girl (Kennedy) is seven years old and it's known to me that she adores me. She tells her mom that she looks just like me. So on with the story, I called her house and Kennedy answered the phone, "Hello, Kennedy, this is Heather. May I please speak with your mom?" I wanted to ask her mother first just in case she wasn't allowed, before I asked the girl and got her hopes up and then we'd have to break the bad news to her. Her mother answered and gave me permission to ask Kennedy. "Hello?" Kennedy said. "Kennedy, you know I'm getting married in September, right?" "Yeah" as she giggled. "Well, I'm calling to see what you thought about being my flower girl?" A huge gasp comes out of her followin…

Heart of Friendship

By: Michele Wallace Campanelli #1 New York Times Best-selling Author -  Melisa and I have known each other since we were young teens in the United Methodist Youth Group. She was a big time player on a local junior high softball team and very popular. Even though we didnt have much in common (Im not a bit athletic and younger), she took me under her wing. We grew up together. Years passed quickly and when Melisa got married, I served as one of her bridesmaids. After her wedding, Melisa moved to Kentucky and traveled on the road with her trucker husband. Not a month would pass that I didnt receive a letter or phone call from Melisa telling me about the breathtaking sights across America. Through her travels, we remained very close. Then one day the phone rang. From the tremor in her voice, I could tell something was terribly wrong. I just came from the doctors office, Melisas voice quivered. Remember when I told you about all those headaches and how my vision sometim…

A True Fairytale of Fate Come to Life

By: Jacquie LeRoy -  One year ago, I was selected to attend pilot training for the Air Force after I commission as an officer. Wanting to do very well in pilot training, I began picking the brains of Air Force pilots. A few months ago (Jan 14, to be exact) I decided to do a web search specifically for pilots of a certain type of aircraft that I once flew on while I was enlisted. I was hoping to get some inside information on how to be assigned to that particular aircraft straight out of pilot training. I found this pilot, John, whose screen name contained the name of that aircraft. He was online at the time so, thinking that he might have some answers for me, I sent him an instant message asking if it was safe to assume that he flies that type of aircraft. He said that he had actually completed pilot training years before this aircraft had even been developed, but his unit was just now in the process of transitioning to that airplane. Even though he couldn't really answer an…

Short Two Bridesmaids and a Hairdresser

By: Mandy Fleming -  It all started one month before the big day. My husband and I live in Georgia, but our wedding was in Massachusetts. I was supposed to have two bridesmaids and a maid of honor. My bridesmaids both live in Texas so we went to visit them a month before the wedding. A few days before we left, I went and picked up the bridesmaid dresses. To our surprise they decided not to be in the wedding, and didn't tell me until we got to TX! Maybe this wouldn't have been such a big deal if we didn't buy the dresses and had time to change things up. Two bridesmaids short doesn't make for a good friendship! Everything was going well until the morning of my wedding! My hairdresser had a wreck on the way to the hotel where she was going to do my hair. Not only did she have a wreck but also she didn't inform me she wasn't coming until ONE hour before the ceremony was to begin. So here I am in my pajamas and my hair is all over the place. What's a girl to do? The mos…

Perfect for Each Other

By: Inessa Cutler -  It was supposed to be our perfect wedding day. At the start the fat Elvis was walking me down the aisle to my soon to be husband, Peter, at the Graceland Wedding Chapel. When Elvis gave me away, all I could feel were the knots in my stomach, as I stood before the judge ready to commit to a lifetime with Peter. The judge began the civil ceremony with the following words, “Family and friends, we welcome you today to witness the marriage of Peter and Inessa.” For the second time, I fell completely in love with Peter when he looked lovingly into my eyes and said those magical little words of I do. It was my special moment. The judge continuing with the wedding vows asked, Inessa, do you take Peter to be your husband? Will you love, honor, and cherish him, in good times and in bad, and do you promise to stay true to him as long as you both shall live? My voice cracked with exhilaration when I repeated those simple words “I do”. When it was time to recit…

The Best Proposal

By: Melissa Yatsko -  My fiance proposed to me by having a police officer pull us over, acting like he was going to take him to jail. He had two dozen roses in the back seat of the officer's car, and it was pouring down rain on the side of the road. I did not notice the roses, until after the fact! The officer diverted my attention away from my fiance who I was trying to convince not to argue with the officer about if he was speeding or not. The officer asked me how long I had known George, and I looked at him and said about 6 months, and when I turned around George was on his knee! It was the best and most romantic thing that has ever been done for me!!!!!! By: Melissa Yatsko
