Everyone Keep Out!

My friends were on a tight wedding budget so I offered to help
out by bypassing their ceremony and heading directly to the reception
hall an hour before the reception. I was to make final checks on
decorations and assist guests (most of whom I didn't know) to their
appointed tables after they signed the guest book.
No problem!
But the guests began arriving and the reception hall manager still
had the doors locked. About twenty guests were waiting outside,
as the manager insisted, "the hall isn't quite ready yet".
It was a hot muggy day but all I could do was obey: after all, I
had no key to the hall doors!
Finally (luckily) the father of the Bride arrived and demanded
to speak to the management (as I'd done to no avail). Her guests
poured in and all finally seemed well. We found out later that while
the management was "getting the hall ready" they were
actually showing the hall for potential rental to another couple!
And they did the same AGAIN during the reception (which I didn't
notice since I knew few of the guests).
Bottom line here is GET IT IN WRITING: The hall you've rented
is YOURS EXCLUSIVELY and open to you, your hired help and your guests
only, before your reception and throughout your special day!!
(Epilogue: The bride's father received a partial refund due to
this indiscretion).
